Why China?

Over the last two decades, China has made amazing achievements in scientific research and education. In 2016, China surpassed the United States as the world leader in terms of the number of published articles. According to Science and Nature, in 2022, China surpassed the United States in the Nature Index, which measures the connections of high-quality scientific articles.

At the same time, China has made significant efforts to attract foreigners, forming more international communities and undertaking research mostly in English. With tuition and living expenditures at one-tenth of those in the UK and the US, as well as more possibilities to publish papers, China has become an appealing destination for international scholoars.

Generous Scholarships, High Quality of Life and Low Costs of Living

Compared to universities in Europe and the United States, Chinese universities offer significantly lower tuition and costs of living with only about one-tenth of the expenses, with plenty of scholarship opportunities available.

Research at universities is now primarily conducted in English, and the proficiency of English in China is rising. The number of foreigners is increasing, and large international communities are forming in major cities, reducing cultural barriers. Major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou are on par with any other major city in the world—more modern, cleaner, and safer.

“As someone who has conducted research in both China and the UK, I can confidently state that Chinese laboratories are genuinely world-class. Many of the most modern labs have recently been created and are outfitted with cutting-edge technology and amenities. In terms of productivity, there are numerous possibilities to publish high-quality articles, similar to those in the United States, and frequently more so than in the United Kingdom. However, the general tempo is significantly quicker.”
